Study MBBS In China

China welcomes international students with open arms and quick visas. The reason is that China is close to India and China promotes tourism and education and many cultural expressions if students from different countries travel on 4 continents. China ranks 2nd with the highest number of student residences.

Medical universities and colleges in China offer higher education at a much lower cost compared to other foreign countries. Every year, a lot of students from all over the world come to China to get an MBBS degree. Medical universities in China are accredited by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Students studying MBBS from China can easily communicate with patients during the first year of the curriculum. The language of instruction is English.

The culture of China has been influenced by antiquity. This gives more respect to education in the country. There are currently about 1,000 colleges and universities in China. Leading universities already have an international reputation for leading teaching and research facilities. Many Chinese universities, such as United International College, now offer degrees in English, where students with no knowledge of Chinese can study.



Universities for MBBS from China in English Medium

Across China, undergraduate medicine and undergraduate Surgery (MBBS) degrees are always taught in the Chinese medium. Since 2004, the Chinese government and the Chinese Ministry of Education (MoE) have allowed some universities to offer this medical degree in English Medicine. Simply put, China has always been well known for Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine around the world. So basically MBBS in English medium has never been a bastion of Chinese medical education.


Since 2010-2011, going to study medicine in China has become very popular among students in Asian countries, so to invite more international students, MoE has also allowed some medical universities to offer MBBS in English education. Between 2014-2015, MoE officially approved 45 medical universities in China to offer MBBS courses in English medium to international students. However many local agents from India and some lesser-known medical colleges in China started the concept of bilingual courses where they misled students by claiming that they would get MBBS education in English and Chinese medium. In the first year, students will study in Chinese, and then from the second year, they will conduct normal English medium classes. Most of the students from India will like this as these medical colleges have very low fees as compared to the MBBS universities that teach English.


Over the past two years, many Indian students have complained to the Indian Embassy in China about problems at such bilingual medical universities. This is the main reason why MoE has to publicly report to the Embassy of India about the 45 listed medical universities recognized for teaching MBBS education in the English medium.


In China, MBBS is in English medium or Chinese medium and other English medium courses are medical integrated medicine, including traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.


So now if any Indian student wants to study medicine in China in English Medium, they should make sure to get admission in 45 listed medical universities in China between Rs 3 lakh and Rs 8 lakh per annum. If you are guided by any local agent for any of the Medical Universities other than these 45 listed Universities, you will not be eligible to appear for the FMGE Exam conducted by the Medical Council of India.
